Ｑ．“If an insurer has authorized 10 CT exams for Mrs. Jones in the past year, you’ve got a clear idea that she is getting heavily radiated,” とありますが、
これから放射線診療を提供するかどうかを判断するときに、
過去の診療での放射線曝露の情報は有益ですか？
Ａ．検査での放射線使用が正当化どうかという観点では、
過去の診療での放射線曝露は、それぞれが正当であれば、
これまでの放射線曝露によるリスクは放射線診療にもたらされた利益でオフセットされていると考えられます。
このため、これまで受けた放射線診療でのリスクとこれから受ける放射線診療の利益を比較するのは必ずしも妥当ではありません。
これまでの放射線曝露の情報は、
・それぞれの放射線診療が適切に行われているかどうか
・放射線診療のリスクの大きさを評価するためのよくデザインされた疫学研究（例えば分割照射による放射線影響の低減の程度を推計するような）
に用いるべきでしょう。
One of the frequently asked questions is about the risk of undergoing many tests. For repeated examination throughout life, the accumulated radiation dose would be likely to reach a significant level. However the risk of each examination is offset each time, so that the idea of the total risk for comparing with the benefit from an additional examination would not be appropriate. To account for this, there should be appropriate radiation risk communication with the patient and parents in pediatric health care.
