積極的な監視療法
Active Surveillance

治療による予後改善と治療的な介入による不利益を比較し、治療介入による不利益が大きいと考えられる場合に、治療を行わない治療法。
注意深く経過観察し、病状が悪化する予兆をいち早くとらえて、時機を逸せず積極的治療介入する治療法であり、watchful waitingとも称させる。
生涯にわたり生命に影響を与えない潜在がんの患者に不要な手術または放射線治療など侵襲を伴う治療を避けることを意図している。
